Trump was hit on his ear as he grabbed it in pain before jumping behind a podium to take cover after the gunman opened fire.

He was seen with blood covering his face as he was swarmed by the Secret Service and rushed off stage in Pennsylvania.

Following the attempt on Trump's life, a planned episode of The Simpsons has been pulled by Channel 4.

Bosses quickly axed the planned repeated episode due to air at 1pm on Sunday, featuring an active gunman.

The episode originally aired back in the 90s and saw Lisa discover that Springfield was actually founded by a fraudulent pirate.

During a scene, a shooter could be seen on the roof of a building as a public gathering took place, similar to the staging at Trump's rallies.

In a bid to keep their Simpsons coverage rolling, the episode was replaced by a series 30 episode.

However, eagle-eyed fans noticed the last minute change at home and took to social media to comment.

One said: "Wondered at first why Channel 4 just pulled the scheduled broadcast of ‘Lisa The Iconoclast’ but I think I get it."

A second wrote: "I did wonder why a random later season episode was thrown in the middle of this Season 7 mini marathon."

"I wouldn't be surprised if it was a member of the public looking at the schedule and phoning them up or sending an email," said a third.
