THE horrifying truth about Matty Barton’s brutal attack in prison has been revealed in Emmerdale - and it’s shocking.
Waiter Matty - who is played by actor Ash Palmisciano in the ITV soap - has been jailed for stabbing Samson Dingle after the teenager lied about what really happened.
This week Matty being trans was accidentally revealed to one of the thugs inside.
Thug Robbo has been threatening Matty ever since he arrived inside but had been held at bay by his cellmate Les.
However in tonight’s episode Les was released from prison leaving Matty without protection.
It then emerged that Matty had been brutally attacked in prison and rushed to hospital.

He was visited by his mum and wife in hospital where he let them believe transphobic bigots had attacked him - and it was Amy’s fault for letting his secret slip.
But as Matty received another visitor - newly freed Les - the truth was revealed.
He wasn’t brutally attacked by thugs in prison - he asked his own cellmate to assault him so he would get taken to hospital.
But the broken ribs, fractured eye-socket and other horrifying injuries weren’t worth it.

Instead the scam bought Matty just two days in hospital.
And after that he will be sent back to prison to the thugs he’s tried to frame for attacking him.
Terrified he broke down and told Les: “Can you imagine, me grassing on Robbo when he hasn’t even touched me yet?
“I’ll be back on the wing within a day or so.”

He then added: “I’m sorry that I asked you to do this to me. Looks like it’s all been for nothing.”
