EastEnders fury as soap is axed from regular spot to make way for Wimbledon in schedule shake-up
EASTENDERS fans were up in arms tonight as the BBC soap was booted out of its usual slot to make way for Wimbledon.
A double bill of episodes have been shifted from BBC One to BBC Three as Andy Murray and brother Jamie play on centre court in SW19.
Soap fans were left scrambling for the remote when they realised something was amiss at 7pm.
One fumed on X: "So where’s EastEnders? We’re meant to have two episodes tonight yet the tennis is still bloody on.
Another raged: "#EastEnders why are they mucking about with the episodes and channels!"
A third said: "Okay that's enough of the tennis put #eastenders on."

A fourth posted: "I love tennis but get it off my screen when EastEnders is on."
The blow was softened somewhat by the huge news just hours earlier that a show legend is returning to Walford.
Tracy Ann Oberman is reprising her role as Chrissie Watts later this year after more than 19 years away from the show.
Chrissie was last seen on-screen when she was sent to prison for the murder of her husband, Den Watts.
She had buried the body of Den under the barrel store floor of The Vic alongside Sam Mitchell and Zoe Slater with them all keeping quiet about the death.
However, when Sam went on to drunkenly dig the body up, the full story soon unravelled with Sharon Watts being left horrified at Chrissie's crime.
Having been sent away to jail, she has seldom been mentioned or heard from since.
But now she is set to shake Walford to the core when she makes an unexpected re-appearance.
The reasons for her return are being kept closely under wraps but The Sun can confirm that Tracy Ann has already begun filming.
