What happened at the end of The Bear season 3?

Uncle Jimmy (Oliver Platt) tells Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) that if The Bear receives a bad review in the Chicago Tribune, he's pulling his funding from the restaurant, effectively putting it out of business.

So everyone is waiting for the review, and surely all will be revealed before the end of the episode.

Carmy goes to his mentor Chef Andrea Terry's (Olivia Coleman) restaurant Ever, and invites Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) along.

Ever is closing its doors for good, holding a funeral dinner to mark the occasion

But Syd is thinking of jumping ship, as one of Ever's bosses offered her a head chef position at their next venture, and she hasn't told Carm yet.

Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) is also back at Ever, and it's like he never left.

Even though he only worked there for five days, he's one of the gang — and could romance be in the air with one of his former colleagues?

The dinner is attended by real life big name chefs including Anna Posey (Elske), Grant Achatz (Alinea) and Christina Tosi (Milk Bar), as well as ex-Noma’s Rosio Sanchez, Wylie Dufresne and Kevin Boehm.

Carm stares down his other former mentor, the mentally unhinged Chef David (Joel McHale), who's hanging around the restaurant, and finally confronts him.

But it doesn't go well because Carmen can't get his words out, saying nothing much of note to his abuser.

Chef David, however, cuttingly bites back: “You were an okay chef when you started with me, and you left an excellent chef.”

Later Carm has a heart-to-heart with Chef Terry, who tells him to call her Andrea, basically saying she wants him in her life even after leaving the culinary world.

Then there's an afterparty at Sydney's with kegs of beer, karaoke, frozen waffles, pizza and caviar.

But everything gets too much for Syd — she suffers a panic attack and runs outside.

The series ends with Carmy checking his phone to see missed calls from Uncle Jimmy, and that the Chicago Tribune review has dropped.

But rather than learning whether Uncle Jimmy will pull his funding and the contents of the review, we just hear Carm express a rather ambiguous: "Mother****er!"

I guess we'll have to wait until season four to learn the fate of The Bear...

Do Carmy and Sydney get together in The Bear season 3

To the disappointment of some viewers, Carmy and Syd do not get together in The Bear's third season.

When asked about the possibility of romance between the two chefs at the show's press conference on June 24, 2024, White and Edebiri replied in unison with a resounding "No".

Addressing the speculation, White added: “There was no talk in the rooms about any romantic implications [between Carmy and Sydney].”

Is season 3 the last season of The Bear?

The Bear will be continued in season four.
