Coronation Street secretly quits soap and lands new job after mysteriously disappearing from screens
CORONATION Street star Lorna Laidlaw has secretly quit the cobbles - and landed a new job - a year after mysteriously disappearing from the soap.
The actress - who played nurse Aggie Bailey in the ITV soap - made her last appearance in June 2023.
And after a year of silence, The Sun can exclusively reveal that Lorna will be returning to screens soon - and will be surrounded by some Corrie icons.
She has joined the cast of Channel Five drama The Good Ship Murder which was recently renewed for two more series and a 2024 Christmas special.
It stars former Corrie actors Shayne Ward as former detective turned cruise ship singer Jack Grayling and Catherine Tyldesley as First Officer Kate Woods.
Current Corrie star Claire Sweeney also appears.

A source said: “Lorna is a hugely talented actress and it’s a great gig to land.
“The show films in beautiful Malta and the cast and crew are a close knit group so it’s a really great atmosphere to work in.”
She originally joined in 2019 as part of the soap’s first ever black family alongside on-screen husband Trevor Georges and on-screen sons Ryan Russell and Nathan Graham.
In her final episodes viewers watched as Aggie hosted a dinner party for an old friend at Sally and Tim’s house, embarrassed by her change in circumstances.
She had previously lived in a mansion in leafy Cheshire but life fell apart when her husband Ed’s gambling addiction cost them everything.
However it later emerged that she needn’t have bothered as her friend Yvette - who was played by actress Arabella Weir - was in the same situation.
Aggie shortly disappeared from the street with bosses explaining her absence as caring for an unwell aunt in Birmingham.
Later updates suggested she had decided to focus on her nursing career in the city.
And when Ed relapsed again, Aggie was said to have decided to divorce him from afar, vowing not to return to the cobbles.
She has not even visited her children or beloved granddaughter Glory.
Coronation Street's shock exits 2024
Corrie has said goodbye to several cast members this year. Let's break down who's left the famous soap:
Eliza Woodrow (Savannah Kunyo) has said farewell to Corrie to start a new life in Germany.
The youngster moved to live with her dad Dom Everett, who went back on the £10,000 bribe Eliza's grandfather Stu had offered to keep him out of her life.
Paul Foreman will bow out of the soap this summer when he loses his fight with motor neurone disease (MND) in tragic scenes.
After being diagnosed last year, the fan favourite, portrayed by Peter Ash, was devastated to learn he only had months left to live.
Viewers know he is planning to take his own life to end his suffering.
Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) departed the cobbles after being offered the opportunity of a lifetime to study in America.
Though she struggled to decide with her stepdad Paul’s impending death from MND, she was convinced she had to live her life to the full.
Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) has struggled with the sudden departure of his father Peter from the cobbles.
The Weatherfield legend left his family and loved ones behind on Boxing Day, 2023, when his wife Carla Connor encouraged him to travel around the world with a friend.
Simon's been on a downward spiral ever since and his exit could end in tragedy.
Alya Nazir is set to leave the cobbles as actress Sair Khan prepares to go on maternity leave ahead of the birth of her first child.
It looks likely she'll be heading to Dublin after securing a lucrative new job, leaving her colleague and fling Adam Barlow behind.
Show stalwart Eileen Grimshaw is taking a break to star in the Sister Act The Musical UK tour.
She's had to leave the Street immediately after her son Jason broke his back after falling off a moped in Asia. She will be back filming in May once her dates on the tour come to an end.
Coronation Street bosses have made no mention of actress Lorna’s disappearance from the show.
However sources have confirmed to The Sun that the actress has indeed left and there are no plans for her to return.

It will put an end to speculation about her return for on-screen daughter Dee-Dee Bailey’s upcoming wedding to secret killer Joel Deering.
The wedding is set for the end of September - but there won’t be a place at the table set for Aggie.
