ITV will instead be showing coverage of the UEFA Euro 2024, as England take on Slovenia in their latest match.

Monday's tense Emmerdale episode saw married couple Tom (James Chase) and Belle King (Eden Taylor-Draper) take centre stage.

Twisted vet Tom learned that Belle had lied to him about suffering a miscarriage having in actuality had an abortion.

He put the pieces together after unintentional help from Noah Dingle (Jack Downham), as well as discovering an incriminating car park ticket - with the revelation sending him into a blind rage.

Since tying the knot earlier this year, Tom has been subjecting his wife to physical and emotional abuse.

After she fell pregnant with her and Tom's first child, Belle knew she didn't want to bring the youngster into a toxic environment.

In Monday's episode, a heart-to-heart between Belle and Rachel, her Mental Health Care Coordinator, seemed to finally open her eyes to the level of abuse that Tom had put her through.

With her bags packed, it appeared Belle was ready to flee the village once and for all.

However, she was stopped in her tracks by news that Tom had been involved in an accident and rushed to hospital.

While taking out his anger about Belle's deceit, Tom hit the barn's rotary isolator with a metal bar, which created an electric shock that knocked him unconscious.

Fortunately for Tom, Paddy (Dominic Brunt) found him in time to get help.

Later, Tom was awake in the hospital when Belle visited, as he made an ominous promise, telling her: "The miscarriage. You've been through so much, you don't need this. I thought I lost everything.

"You, us, but I'm here. I'm still here and I am never leaving you."

It's not all bad news for soap fans, however, as EastEnders will be back on screen tonight.

Each of this week's episodes has been pushed back by one day to accommodate the football coverage.

Although tonight's episode (which was originally intended for Monday) will be hitting viewers' screens, it has already been shown on iPlayer since yesterday.
