The actor played nerdy and shy Neville Longbottom in the original film series.

Neville went through a large character arc in the flicks, starting off as one of the lesser known members of Gryffindor as his more popular friends Harry, Hermoine and Ron became well known for their exploits.

However, by the end of the series, he overcame some of his insecurities and became one of the leaders of Dumbledore's Army.

The wizard even helped to defeat Voldemort by killing snake Nagini, which was the final Horcrux.

Sadly, Matthew revealed that it is unlikely that he will make an appearance on the reboot.

He told People magazine: "It's not something I'm looking at or want to do but would not turn my nose up at.

"The reason I got into this job in the first place was because I have a very short attention span.

"I am very, very poor at maintaining anything for any length of time.

"I've had many, many hobbies and passions over the years. Not a single one do I still do.

"I fall madly in love with things and then almost immediately forget about them."

However, the actor from Leeds admitted that he would love to get a chance to portray the character of Neville as an adult.

Matthew added: "I'd be very interested to see if it was Neville as an adult — a whole different vibe.

"That could be interesting. I would certainly look at that and consider it."

HBO Max recently announced that they would be premiering a Harry Potter TV show in 2026.

It will be based on the original books, but with different actors cast from the ones who played the characters in the original films.
