The anchor also lost her dad when he was 66 years old.
Kay previously shared how her sister Jacqueline is currently battling breast cancer too.
In a recent health update to fans alongside a selfie, she said: "Thank you to all of you who regularly ask about my baby sister, Jacqueline.

"This was us in January. I hope it will be us next January and the one after that and the one after that ad infinitum."
Kay is a keen faster - something she adapted after going on a health retreat last year.
While there last year she sparked health fears amongst her fans by revealing she had completely given up food for 10 days.
She took fans on the experience with her as she updated them daily.
Kay has a grown up son called Alexander, who she shares with her ex husband Steve Kunter.
She previously posed with her 31-year-old only child as they enjoyed an exotic safari trip.
