Despite originally planned to air this evening, the soap giants were forced out by the Austria v France game.

But it's not all bad news for viewers, they will be able to watch Emmerdale on Tuesday June 18 with two back-to-back episodes at 7pm.

Then at 8pm Corrie will kick off.

On Wednesday normality will resume, with both soaps showing on their usual slots.

Then on Thursday, the Euros will take over the evening schedule, before going back to normal on Friday.

But this hasn't gone down well, with one fan taking to X: "Bloody football changing the schedule again".

"I love watching the Euros. I also love watching Emmerdale and Corrie. Why do we have to miss our soaps for the footy? There would be uproar if it was the other way round", another raged.

"Why doesn't football have its own dedicated channel", a third questioned.

"It's about time this nonsense stopped,, there is no need to cancel corras for (football emoji) there are enough channels for both," echoed a fourth.

"Boo to the football!!!" another simply wrote.

Several viewers argued that the episodes could have been put on ITV X instead.

Others moaned that ITV had "plenty of channels" to air the football on.
