AN ex Love Island star has revealed the ‘real reason’ why ITV is sending celebrities into the villa as bombshells.
Frankie Foster, 28 - who appeared on Love Island in 2018 - gave his opinion on famous faces taking part in the programme.
On Monday evening Towie legend Joey Essex shocked viewers when he was announced as the first ever bombshell of the 2024 series.
The reality legend is the first ever celebrity bombshell.
Frankie thinks that the decision to send well known names into the villa is a tactic to boost viewers ahead of the Euros.
Chatting with , Frankie said: “I think going forward they’re really going to rely on influencers, celebrities, and people with a large following because social media is more important than ever now.

"There’s been a massive shift in media advertising, with companies moving away from traditional methods like TV advertising and billboards.
"They’ll still use those, but now social media and influencer spending takes up the majority of most budgets.”
The Euros will be on our screens for the next few weeks - and the reality star thinks that as soon as it's on, people will start watching that instead.
When asked why Love Island has had the highest ratings in two years, Frankie said: “To put it bluntly, I think people are just bored.

"The Euros haven’t started yet, summer isn’t quite here, and the weather has been awful, so people probably just don’t have much better to do.
“I was actually in the villa during the 2018 Euros, and I remember it being really frustrating."
The Euros were also on our screens when Frankie was on Love Island six years ago.
The social media star revealed a sneaky trick they asked the bombshells to find out what they were doing.
Frankie said: "When new people came in, we would try to ask them how England were doing, but they weren’t allowed to tell us.
"So we knew when the games were, but we didn’t know the results.
