CORRIE star Jimmi Harkishin was taken to a back room at B&Q after security suspected him of pinching a pot of paint.

The actor, 59, who earns a six-figure salary playing shopkeeper Dev Alahan, has now been banned from the DIY store despite denying theft.

Jimmi was confronted last Wednesday in B&Q’s warehouse at Cheetham Hill in Manchester.

A source said: “He was taken to the back room and held there for ten-15 minutes.

“The cameras were watching him the whole time and the staff weren’t bothered about who he was. He was treated just like everyone else.”

Police were not called but staff say bosses handed the actor a letter banning him from the store.

Jimmi, who has played Dev since 1999, denied wrong­doing.

He claimed: “This was a misunderstanding over a sample pot of paint bought from elsewhere.”

It is understood he is considering an appeal.

In 2004, he was arrested and cautioned for allegedly swapping price tags on clothes at a fashion store in North West London.

Weeks later, the dad of three was pictured taking cocaine, triggering a break from the soap to undergo drugs counselling.

Ex-England footballer Glen Johnson, then 22, got an £80 on-the-spot fine in 2007 after he and a friend tried to pinch a toilet seat and taps from B&Q in Dartford, Kent.

B&Q declined to comment on the Jimmi allegations.
