A second series of the hit comedy G'Wed has reportedly been commissioned by ITV.

The humorous show is set in Liverpool and is filmed entirely on location, rather than on a tradition studio set like other sitcoms.

It has a cast of fresh young talent from the region which includes the likes of Dylan Thomas-Smith, Jake Kenny-Byrne, Dominic Murphy and Matthew Devlin.

However, established personalities have also signed onto work on the innovative show.

Loose Women star Sunetra Sarker, Brookside actor Louis Emerick and Line of Duty's Leanne Best have also appeared on-screen.

According to magazine, the network has given G'Wed another series which is set to cover another range of controversial topics.

Huge issues have previously been covered on the show which has previously tackled the likes of grief, sex, diversity and class differences.

The series was first launched back in February and the first episode alone has been seen by nearly 2 million viewers across ITVX, ITV1 and ITV2.

It has also been streamed 4.9 million times and has become the biggest comedy for ITVX since Changing Ends.

Across ITV's channels, the comedy show is the second most watched programme of the year, with only Love Island garnering more viewers.

It's also been claimed that the series has been the biggest sitcom launch by ITV since March 2020 when Kate and Koji made his debut.

Despite falling viewership on some of the daytime shows, the commercial broadcaster seems to be having more luck on streaming.

ITVX has seemingly recorded its best ever quarter with a streaming increase of 12% from the previous year,

Speaking about the success of the show, Head of Comedy at ITV Nana Hughes praised the series for the impact it has had.

She explained: "It’s amazing to see the success of G’wed across ITVX and the linear channels.

"A true testament to the new talent involved, the hugely talented cast, excellent authentic writing by Danny Kenny and expertly executive produced by Mario Stylianides."
