‘It’s so set up!’ rant BGT viewers as they blast semi final magic act’s ‘staged’ performance

Others leapt to the group's defence as the knives came out on social media

BRITAIN'S Got Talent fans accused one of tonight's semi final acts of putting on a 'staged' performance that they claimed was ' set up'.

Magicians Assemble took to the stage for the latest live show, where the quartet of illusionists pulled off various tricks, including getting a young girl to levitate on live TV.

They also got a random woman in the audience to write her wish on a an envelope and correctly guessed she wanted to go to Barcelona.

Judge Bruno Tonioli was holding the envelope, and when he unfolded it, inside was a plane ticket to the Spanish city.

But while the act wowed the studio audience, many viewers of the hit ITV1 series were not buying it.

And many took to social media, accusing it of being set up and suggesting the people chosen from the audience were not at random,

They even accused Bruno of 'faking' his reaction when opening the paper.

"Bruno was already acting shocked before opening the envelope," one cynical viewer wrote on X, formerly twitter.

A second believed that the youngster who was plucked from her seat to levitate was clearly picked in advance and knew it was coming.

They ranted: "Middle class kid called Leah randomly picked from the audience, this c**p isn't staged at all is it?"

";I enjoy a good magic act but not using stooges and set ups," another vented.

"There's too much going on and you can tell how setup this is," a fourth agreed.

Meanwhile, a fifth fumed: "This group are not good live sadly. Very set up at points."

Other viewers disagreed, however, and championed the act.

Ben Hart, Colin Cloud, Elizabeth Best and Aidan McCann have since teamed up to try their luck as a group.

The climax to their performance tonight saw the four of them transform into their younger selves, disappearing before the audience's eyes and being replaced by a quartet of mini lookalikes.
