EAMONN Holmes returned to work to face reaction to his marriage breakdown head on.
The TV power couple's separation stunned fans - but the 64-year-old was keen not to "hide" in the aftermath.
While it was confirmed Ruth Langsford will not appear on Loose Women this week, insiders say Eamonn turned down time off to get back on-screen.
"Eamonn is a professional and so no matter what is going on in his private life, he is determined not to let down his work colleagues," our source said.
"Many expected he'd want to take a few days off until news of the split blows over, but Eamonn refused.
"He didn't want to hide. News of the split has been coming for a long time."

The Sun has approached Eamonn's rep for comment.
Eamonn returned to work on Tuesday this week after the Bank Holiday.
He gave a short statement in regards to the end of his 27-year relationship with Ruth, who he used to present This Morning with.
Eamonn said the support shown by fans following the announcement had "meant so much" to himself and Ruth.

He : "Just before we move on we'd just like to thank people for your support for Ruth and I over the last few days as to the news of our separation.
"Your support for both of us is very much appreciated."
He has since been seen looking downcast after leaving his TV show.
Meanwhile Ruth put on a brave face as she was spotted out still wearing her wedding ring.
She has been posting about "joy" as she returned to QVC for a "design day" behind the scenes.
However, she has not addressed the break up with fans directly.

They are reported to have been living separate lives for the past two years, but Eamonn only recently moved out of their Surrey mansion into a property nearby.
Ruth and Eamonn's split was revealed in an exclusive statement to The Sun on Sunday.
Their spokesperson said: “Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing.”
