Emmerdale airs shock death as fan favourite dies off-screen in bizarre scenes

EMMERDALE has aired a shock death tonight - in bizarre scenes with the fan-favourite dying off-screen.

The ITV soap said goodbye to Ethan Anderson as he collapsed and was rushed to hospital.

Viewers know Ethan had been the victim of a hit and run after Ruby Fox-Miligan brutally mowed him down in revenge for leaving her son Nicky to die.

In tonight’s episode Ruby and Caleb couldn’t help themselves but to mock Ethan as he faced court today - but it backfired when Ethan warned her that he knew about her scheme with Dawn Taylor’s mum Rose.

Ethan went home and got advice from his dad before deciding to leave a voicemail for Dawn.

But as he got ready for court, he was chatting to his dad, preparing for prison, when Ethan suddenly collapsed.

Charles began CPR as he phoned an ambulance and Manpreet rushed in and took over, battling to save Ethan’s life.

An ambulance arrived and Ethan was rushed to hospital.

But that was the last time he was seen, with Charles and Manpreet arriving back in the village at the end of the episode with the news that Ethan had died.

Claudette begged to know how her grandson was but Charles told her: “He’s gone mum.

“He’s dead. Ethan’s dead. We know what happened, he was run over. Someone knocked him down and a few days later… it’s murder. And I swear by almighty God I will not rest until whoever did this pays for what they’ve done.”

Handily, Ruby was there to hear all this and look suitable guilty for what she’s done.

Now actor Kevin Mathurin - who plays Ethan’s dad Charles in the ITV soap - has spoken about the shocking death.

He said: “Charles has lost his one and only constant, his son, who has been in his life throughout. So now Charles has to live a life without Ethan.

“It’s going to hit the hardest because Charles raised Ethan on his own. They have always been together. 

“They have been the core unit of the Anderson family so for Ethan to be gone it’s going to be devastating for Charles to deal with.”

And Kevin revealed he was devastated to discover actor Emile was leaving the soap.

“It was devastating to know that Emile was leaving,” he said. 

“We joined the show together as a band. We bonded straight away. he’s been amazing playing my son. 

“He’s a good mate, a brother and we’ve had some great moments, some laughs and tears together. 

“It’s been an amazing journey and it’s going to be so weird not having him sit next to me in the dressing room belly laughing. 

“He’s an amazing energy to have on set, he’s an amazing actor and the future is very bright for this talented guy so I wish him all the best.”
