‘Completely pointless’ rant furious BGT fans as they call for huge part of show to be AXED
The feature in question has been regularly used since 2014
BRITAIN’S Got Talent viewers have branded a staple of the show ‘completely pointless’ and suggested it should be axed.
The long-running ITV show is currently airing its 17th series, with Ant and Dec once again presenting.

However, some fans have criticised a familiar feature of the series - the coveted Golden Buzzer.
Taking to Reddit, a viewer shared they felt the prize was “losing its credibility” as more have become available in recent series.
They wrote: “I feel that since they keep giving out golden buzzers they are kinda losing their credibility because the whole reason they were special were the fact there was only five but now it feels as though there is one every other act.
“And in my personal opinion, the ones that have received golden buzzers I would not have chosen.

“I’m not saying they aren’t talented because they really are but there have been many others who truly deserved golden buzzers but wasn’t. Anyway just felt I need to speak about this.”
Another person agreed, writing: “I agree, don't see why they need 9 golden buzzers. I mean, if they like those acts so much, surely they'll put them through to the semis anyway?”
Introduced in series eight, the Golden Buzzer grants acts an automatic place in the live show rounds.
Traditionally, there have been five on offer - one from each of the four judges and the last being Ant and Dec’s.

Although the format received a revamp in series 16 onwards, with the number of Golden Buzzers increased.
There were a total of nine Golden Buzzers awarded in series 17, with the final one transpiring in an unusual fashion.
Haribow, a double-dutch group from Japan, declared they were “here to win” after they took to the stage to audition.

They wowed the judges with their skilful routines which included backflips and dancing.
After receiving a standing ovation from both the audiences and judges, there were immediate calls for a Golden Buzzer.

“I’ve done two, I’ve got none left”, Amanda Holden informed her daughter Hollie, who was sat in the crowd next to Simon Cowell’s son Eric.
Meanwhile, Bruno Tonioli attempted to calm the audience by explaining the situation.
Referring to the Golden Buzzers, he said: “We've got none left. We can't.”
Simon told the group: “You know sometimes, when you watch an audition, I'm sitting here thinking I genuinely don't know what to say. When it's brilliant like this it's just – words aren't really necessary.”

He added: “My son is literally going crazy right now," he added and, in a surprise move, told Hollie: "You do it".
With Simon's approval, the two kids ran onto stage and pressed the Golden Buzzer.
