EMMERDALE viewers think they caught a big blunder as the identity of Ethan Anderson’s hit and run assailant was revealed.
In Wednesday’s episode, Ethan (Emile John) was seen lying in the middle of a quiet road, covered in blood and in desperate need of medical attention after being hit by a car.
A bloodied Ethan was next seen stumbling into the Emmerdale village fete, alarming his fellow residents who were gathered there.
His dad Charles (Kevin Mathurin) and GP Manpreet (Rebecca Sarker) rushed to assist him although Ethan insisted he was fine.
However, exactly how Ethan managed to walk to the fete despite sustaining serious injuries sparked confusion among viewers.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), they shared their opinion on the dramatic turn of events.

One user wrote: "It's a miracle Ethan's walking back while half dead. Almost as good as Chloe's survival of a car crash."
Another penned: "So he's injured in the road badly not moving but then manages to get up and walk back to the village??
“Maybe he's infected with zombie virus and it will spread now? This new storyline? Actually could be exciting village event twist.”
A third commented: "Ethan done well to walk back to the village from the middle of a country lane in the middle of nowhere. Fair play."

As the episode continued, sleuthing viewers tried to work out who was the mysterious person that had run Ethan over.
Caleb (William Ash) and Cain (Jeff Hordley) emerged as major suspects among fans, as did Suni (Brahmdeo Shannon Ramana).
Ethan's hit and run followed an incident earlier this month, in which Ethan accidentally crashed his car into a tree with Nicky Miligan (Lewis Cope) as his passenger.
After the incident, Ethan panicked and ran away from the scene, leaving Nicky unconscious.
As it stands, Nicky is fighting for his life in hospital.
As Caleb, Cain and Suni are Nicky’s father, uncle and boyfriend respectively, it stands to reason that any of them would want revenge on Ethan.
CLEAR MESSAGE TO ETHAN
Ultimately, however, a mother’s love has no bounds as it was Caleb’s estranged wife Ruby (Beth Cordingly) who was revealed as the person who ran Ethan over.
Ruby wanted Ethan to get a taste of his own medicine following what transpired with Nicky.
After Ethan’s hit and run in Wednesday’s episode, Ruby later visited him and gave a stern warning that she would “finish the job” if her son didn’t make it out of hospital.
