But Emmerdale fans have been suspicious of her since her debut, and believe there is more to her than meets the eye.

On Monday, they finally found out one of the things she's been hiding from her new friends - that she is homeless and living out of her car.

One scene saw her bedding down in her car in woodland, with it packed to the brim with her belongings.

On Tuesday, Manpreet found Ella asleep in her car during one of her morning runs, and ended up telling Liam, who Ella has just started dating.

After some discussion, Liam suggested temporarily moving into the spare room at Tenants and Ella agreed.

Back at Tenants, Mandy enquired about Ella’s family as she moved her stuff into the house.

But when Ella spotted an old photograph in Mandy’s hands, she snapped at her, leaving Mandy confused.

However, Mandy isn't the only one who is curious about Ella's background.

Soon after, Manpreet fills Liam in about something she saw regarding Ella, which jolts Liam into action.

Speaking about her new role when it was announced in November last year, Paula said: "I'm so excited to be joining the cast of Emmerdale. Everyone has been so welcoming and I can't wait to start a new chapter playing the role of Ella.

"I've already heard there are big plans for her and I can't wait to see her navigate a new life in the village and hopefully make some friends!”
