‘She’s wasted!’ rage Coronation Street fans as they slam writers for giving Weatherfield icon ‘nothing but rubbish’
CORONATION Street fans have slammed writers for 'wasting' a Weatherfield icon and giving them 'nothing but rubbish'.
Regular viewers of the ITV soap aren't afraid to make their feelings clear about storylines and characters, taking to forums and X to vent.
In one forum discussion, a Coronation Street viewer questioned Sarah Platt's storylines, prompting a mixture of responses from fellow fans.
In recent months, Sarah - played by Tina O'Brien - has split from husband Adam Barlow, embarked on a romance with bad boy Damon Hay and then found herself single once again after his arrest and imprisonment.
In more recent episodes, she has grown closer to former flame Gary Windass, while also growing increasingly worried about daughter Bethany after the man who groomed her as a teen - Nathan Curtis - reappeared in Weatherfield.
But the viewer wrote: "Well she has had more men than hot dinners and now it seems she wants to get back together with Gary or it looks like she wants to.

"We had all the drama with Adam and her cheating on him. She then got mixed up with a criminal who wanted to go straight then got banged up.
"And now she is confiding in Gary who is now helping her get rid of Nathan who groomed Bethany by paying him off.
"She has had three storylines in the last year that always involved her being with men."
A fellow fan replied: "Tina O’Brien is a good actress. I’d rather Sarah was given storylines than deadwood characters."
But another argued: "The problem with Sarah, under [producer Iain] MacLeod especially, is that she's went nowhere.
"MacLeod came in, broke up her and Gary, randomly threw her Adam then...broke up her and Adam for Damon...then broke up her and Damon for Gary again apparently.
"He's no idea what to do with Sarah and if she isn't having an affair she's useless apparently."
Another Coronation Street fan replied: "Tina O' Brien has only ever shone in the Hillman saga and Todd's coming out story, she's had nothing but rubbish ever since. She's wasted in Corrie IMO."
Meanwhile a fellow fan wrote: "The Todd/break up/miscarriage storyline was her acting at her best.
"One of my favourite ever scenes is the Gail/Eileen brawl and Tina acted her socks off just by standing in the background silently crying."
Coronation Street's shock exits 2024
Corrie has said goodbye to several cast members this year. Let's break down who's left the famous soap:
Eliza Woodrow (Savannah Kunyo) has said farewell to Corrie to start a new life in Germany.
The youngster moved to live with her dad Dom Everett, who went back on the £10,000 bribe Eliza's grandfather Stu had offered to keep him out of her life.
Paul Foreman will bow out of the soap this summer when he loses his fight with motor neurone disease (MND) in tragic scenes.
After being diagnosed last year, the fan favourite, portrayed by Peter Ash, was devastated to learn he only had months left to live.
Viewers know he is planning to take his own life to end his suffering.
Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) departed the cobbles after being offered the opportunity of a lifetime to study in America.
Though she struggled to decide with her stepdad Paul’s impending death from MND, she was convinced she had to live her life to the full.
Simon Barlow (Alex Bain) has struggled with the sudden departure of his father Peter from the cobbles.
The Weatherfield legend left his family and loved ones behind on Boxing Day, 2023, when his wife Carla Connor encouraged him to travel around the world with a friend.
Simon's been on a downward spiral ever since and his exit could end in tragedy.
Alya Nazir is set to leave the cobbles as actress Sair Khan prepares to go on maternity leave ahead of the birth of her first child.
It looks likely she'll be heading to Dublin after securing a lucrative new job, leaving her colleague and fling Adam Barlow behind.
Show stalwart Eileen Grimshaw is taking a break to star in the Sister Act The Musical UK tour.
She's had to leave the Street immediately after her son Jason broke his back after falling off a moped in Asia. She will be back filming in May once her dates on the tour come to an end.
Coronation Street airs on ITV1 and is available on ITVX.
