REUBEN Owen has shared that farm work was a tough grind when his parents split, but the pair did everything in their power to keep a sense of normalcy even after their relationship ended.

The lad from the Dales originally became known for starring in his parents' TV series Our Yorkshire Farm.

Now he is starring in a solo show of his own, called Reuben Owen: Life in the Dales.

Ahead of its Channel 5 release, he opened up about what it was like witnessing his parents' divorce as they continued to manage Ravenseat Farm together.

Amanda and Clive separated very publicly after 22 years of marriage.

Reuben lovingly shared: "It doesn't really make a difference. They are just there as they always have been.

"Mum and Dad just keep us right. They always have and they still do, they're the same as they were and they are up there farming right now.

"When I left them today Mum had something going on to do with a cow. Mum and Dad were both stood there absolutely soaking wet in the yard. Not much has changed at all really."

However, starting his own farm machinery business has made the 20-year-old realise how much work his mother has put in to keep Ravenseat going all these years.

"I've realised how hard it must be for her to do it all," he added ruefully.

"On the scale of what I do compared to what she does she works very hard. I don’t know how she has enough hours in the day to do it all."

Amanda Owen has been helping him behind the scenes, but he says her main advice was to enjoy the early stages of his career.

"She’s always down the yard where we keep all our machinery," he shared.

"She comes down and helps with bits. She says just have a good time and make sure you look smart."
