TV personality and actress Downtown Julie Brown was a regular face in the eighties and nineties with her successful music show Club MTV.

And the Bedfordshire-born star, who hosted the successful music show from 1987 to 1992, has barely aged since then.

Julie, 60, who is better known as Downtown Julie Brown, was a regular face in the UK and stateside due to the global reach and popularity of the youth-centred show.

She appears to be defying the ageing process in a series of recent Instagram snaps where the talented TV host appears to be , looking not a day older than her music TV heyday.

Prior to working in America, the ageless star appeared as a dancer on BBC's Top of the Pops.

Julie, who is off Jamaican and English descent, grew up with six siblings, and a father who was in the Royal Air Force.

This led to her being being brought up around the world in various air force bases, including Cyprus and Singapore. The family eventually settled back in Bridgend, Wales.

JULIE'S EARLY BEGINNINGS

Julie's career took off after winning the UK Disco Dancing Championships, back in 1979.

Shortly after winning the competition, she kicked off her UK presenting career the following year as a guest presenter on kids show Crackerjack!.

She spent the early 80s balancing her presenting career with dancing in dance troupe Zoo, on trailblazing BBC show: Top of the Pops.

By the mid-80s, she would leave TOTP, to present the pan-European music channel Music Box, before moving to the USA to become an MTV VJ [video jockey] in 1987, hosting Club MTV for five years.

The new MTV gig turned Julie into a household name, and along with a handful of Black British acts including Billy Ocean, 74, and reggae band Musical Youth, she would become one of the first Black British persons to be seen on MTV.

Julie spoke of her experiences on MTV last year on the . She said: "I loved dancing in nightclubs, and never liked interviewing people in a studio."

Julie continued: "So The MTV producers crafted the show [Club MTV] around that, showcasing me interviewing people as I am dancing in the club. That was the premise for Club MTV."

The competitive dancer often such as Madonna, 65, Prince and George Michael while working at MTV.

After Julie left MTV in the 90s, she went onto to work for sports programming and entertainment network ESPN, as an interviewer, conducting interviews with football athletes.

She later moved to LA to become a TV host on the E Entertainment channel. The American Dance Traxx star spent the 90s and 00s making appearances in a plethora of TV shows and films,

In the 90s, the TV host shifted gears from being an interviewer, to becoming an interviewee, featuring as a guest on a plethora of late night shows to discuss her acting projects.

This includes 1996 film Spy Hard, 1997's cult-comedy classic BAPS starring Halle Berry, 57, and reality TV series RuPaul's Drag University back in 2009.

In 1998, the actress also shocked her fans when posed nude on the cover of Playboy back in 1998.

Julie still takes the occasional acting job, most notably as character Consigliere back in 2017 film Sharknado 5.

However, the age-defying star has turned her focus back to radio, and is currently a radio host on SiriusXM programme '90s on 9.

The nostalgic programme showcases an array of prominent music genres of the decade, from grunge rock, hip-hop, R&B to pop music.

Julie married film producer and former CEO of Intermedia, Martin Schuermann in 2001. The couple live in Marina Del Rey, California, adn have a daughter by the name of Gianna.
