Regular Good Morning Britain anchor Susanna Reid, 53, switched her presenting partners up, replacing Ed Balls, 57, and Richard Madeley, 67, with Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis, 51.

He was on the show to talk about claiming money back from energy providers, in a special segment about refunds on direct debit payments, yet fans appreciated his insight through the show.

This was clear when he gave former government Minister Robert Jenrick MP a grilling about immigration.

The politician said: "Now we have left the EU we actually have control, we weren't able to control our borders previously because we weren't outside the EU."

Martin immediately fired back: "When you were immigration minister that was after Brexit

"You're telling me, we left the European Union, we control our leavers.

"You were immigration minister. Immigration went up.

"Why do we believe you now?

MP Jenrick replied: "My personal record was instituting the biggest reduction in net migration of all time.

"I persuaded the PM to put in place measures that will reduce the number of people coming into this country by 300,000.

"But I wasn't able to persuade him to do as much as I wanted."

He also grilled the MP about the jail system and early release of prisoners.

After the chunky segment played out, fans were quick to comment.

One took to X to insist: "Martin Lewis should be on #GMB all the time asking the questions WE want asked and he’s not in ANYONE’S pocket!

"Plus he walks all over the MP’s financial bulls**t."

Another put: "Bob Jenrick looking very uncomfortable at being politely handed his a**e on a plate by Martin Lewis."

A third then mused: "Blimey it’s like being back at school with Laura Tobin and Martin Lewis on."

Another quoted the MP and put: "'I don’t think those stats are quite right' #gmb Martin didn’t like this comment."

One then added: "He [Robert Jenrick MP] has just got battered by Kevin Maguire and Martin Lewis on."

Fan fave

Good Morning Britain's page on X had teased Martin's appearance yesterday.

Martin is no stranger to the ITV weekday show.

Last summer, he was left shaking with rage as he appeared on the panel to chat about being targeted by high tech scammers.

Speaking from a live link to his home, he gave his angriest-ever TV appearance after he was victim to a deepfake' video showing him promoting an investment scheme.

At the time, he opened up about the swindle, fuming: "I am viscerally angry."

He added: "These are robbers with masks over their face in the digital world.

"There is nothing clever about this, these are scams."

Shock strip

Just a few months earlier, Martin stunned fans as he started to strip off while on the presenter panel.

He was quick to get stuck in, baring his chest to test out an emergency bleed control kit.

He was quick to offer to assist in a demonstration and unbuttoned a few fastens on his white shirt before a patch was stuck onto his chest.

He said: "Let's demonstrate how it works. Do you need a dummy? That would be me."

It remains to be seen if Martin will be a regular stand-in during GMB's upcoming summer shows.
