It's evident that the star maintains his fitness regimen. Joel, who's married to model Hannah Cooper, has previously admitted to enjoying running and crossfit, as well as staying on top of his diet.
Earlier this year, Gladiators was rebooted by BBC One as they revived the iconic sports entertainment show that ran between 1992 and 2000.
The Gladiatrors grand final in March saw Finlay Anderson snatch the crown for the men's division and Marie-Louise Nicholson take victory for the women's.
Due to the success of the show and the boom in ratings, the BBC have announced a celebrity spin-off last month.
Speaking about Gladiators during an appearance on BBC Radio 4, Dan, chief of Hungry Bear Media who make the show, said: "I can reveal we are going to do a celebrity special.
“You always look at old shows that are no longer on television. You are always coming up with new ways of bringing back a show.
"There is nothing wrong with that because those shows were great for a reason.
"As well as coming up with new ideas, we’ve always got one eye on what could come back and what could be a hit like Gladiators is."
Father and son duo Bradley and Barney Walsh are set to return to host the new series.
