Inside Coronation Street star Alex Bain’s leaving party with former co-stars after being left ‘gutted’ at soap axe

ALEX Bain has shared a peak into his Coronation Street leaving do on Instagram after being left devastated by his character's axing.

The soap star is known for playing Simon Barlow on the cobbles over the past 15 years.

Given he is only 22 this means he has spent most of his life on the set of Corrie.

An insider source revealed that it was not his decision to leave the soap and he already wants to be asked back.

They told the Sun: "Alex has been putting on a brave face saying he quit the show but in reality bosses decided it was time for him to move on.

"It’s been incredibly emotional for Alex and he really doesn’t want to leave at all.

"He’s been begging bosses to keep him in mind for the future. He wants to go back already."

Alex shared a video from his goodbye party on social media with an emotional tribute to his co-stars, writing: "I know I am late but y'all should know this about me by now!

"Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate at my leaver's drinks! I love you all so dearly!"

In the clip stars from Coronation Street could be seen arriving at cocktail bar The Alchemist.

They soon got into the party mood, with several shots of cast members necking pints and exchanging hugs with the man of the hour.

Some Moet was brought out for the special occasion, and many signed a lovely send-off card for Alex.

At one point Alex was nearly moved to tears by a necklace he was given as a parting gift.

Towards the end of the night a DJ stepped in to get the tunes going and with the booze flowing freely many cast members took to the dance floor for a boogie.
