Axed Hollyoaks star lands job on Coronation Street as part of Lauren Bolton storyline – and he’s already started filming

HOLLYOAKS actor Jacob Roberts is heading back to soapland as a central character for Lauren Bolton in Coronation Street. 

The hunky actor is best known to date for playing loveable but troubled Damon Kinsella in the Chester based soap from 2017 to 2023, when he was axed in one of the show’s character culls.

Now, he’s about to be a whole new kind of character as he gets involved with Lauren Bolton’s disappearance storyline in Corrie - already starting filming for the cobbles. 

A source exclusively told The Sun: "Corrie bosses were really impressed with Jacob in his audition and he landed the part straight away.”  

“He's getting along really well with the cast, and will make quite the impact with viewers when he hits screens in a few weeks,” they added. 

In scenes to air in the coming weeks, the shady new character will be spending a lot of time with Lauren (Cait Fitton), and Corrie's police duo Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) and DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers).

The Sun Online has reached out to Coronation Street for comment. 

Following Lauren’s disappearance, despite a body failing to be found, the police have become convinced beloved café owner Roy Cropper (David Neilsen) is responsible for her murder. 

The inept police work has Weatherfield residents and Coronation Street fans alike furious.

However, some believe that another resident has something to do with it, with Joel Deering already having experience in keeping secrets, having failed to tell Dee-Dee Bailey about his wife and daughter during their relationship.

Fans think he could be Lauren’s secret boyfriend. 

Jacob’s Hollyoaks character Damon was last seen in June 2023 heading off to New York for a new life, after an attempt at a bank heist goes wrong. 

Orchestrated by Cindy Cunningham (Stephanie Waring), who needed the money to save the market, Grace Black (Tamara Wall) and Zara Morgan (Kelly Condron) soon joined her, with Damon being roped in as a getaway driver.

But things turned sour when Cindy, who had come off her bipolar medication, locked the girls in an armoured van with her as the police descended. 

Grace ended up taking the fall for the entire crime, while Zara decided to go travelling in order to find herself a better life. 

Jacob clearly thought the same, and fulfilled his dream of living in New York.
