CORONATION Street viewers have vowed to boycott the soap over the ‘farcical’ Roy Cropper arrest.
On the long-running soap, the beloved cafe owner was previously arrested for the murder of missing teenager Lauren Bolton.
Actor David Neilson, 75, plays the beloved and long-running role in the serial drama.
But the Coronation Street character will be dealt a devastating blow this week when he is formally charged with the murder, as revealed by the show's official social media account.
But it seems than fans have absolutely slated the ITV writers as they claimed the soap is now a 'laughing stock'.
They took to TX - formerly known as Twitter - in their droves as they blasted the 'ridiculous' storyline.

One fan wrote: "Well time to find a new show… I feel we should #boycottcorrie, I just can’t deal with how pathetic this storyline is, why haven’t the police even dusted the weapon for prints? Totally unrealistic bye bye #corrie #itvcorrie."
"You need a body to be found for that!! C'mon Corrie,do your research properly as you are making the Police look stupid. ..especially the comic duo of PC Dither Tinker & DS Dopy Swibble!! So farcical it's hilarious 😂 🤣 #Corrie," sarcastically joked a second.
A third viewer echoed: "This is an actual outrage."
As a fourth user stated: "This Roy killing Lauren storyline is ridiculous!"

Meanwhile, someone else raged: "This is the worst storyline I’ve ever seen, it’s all utter circumstantial crap they have on Roy no evidence but the main reason it doesn’t work is nobody gives a flying fudge what’s actually happened to Lauren!! Please please make it stop #corrie."
As a sixth fan fumed: "Read the room your writers are making Corrie a laughing stock! 🤷♀️."
In the same vein of wrongly imprisoned Dierdre Barlow in 1998, a seventh added: "FREE THE WEATHERFIELD ONE!!!!!."
Roy is currently DS Lisa Swain’s number one suspect for the murder since he misguidedly deep cleaned Lauren’s flat after her mysterious disappearance.
This was after his series of blunders that left a circumstantial trail of evidence which could suggest he had a sexual relationship with Lauren - and killed her.
When the hunt for Lauren became a murder inquiry, the cafe owner was taken in for questioning, despite protestations from Carla Connor.
This coming week, events will take a turn for the worse when a woman pretending to be Lauren’s mum visits the cafe and ends up falling and hitting her head after a tussle with Roy.
After solicitor Dee Dee accompanied Roy in his questioning, she later returns to Roys Rolls alone and breaks the devastating news.
