The schedule change is due to sport coverage, but viewers think the longer episode will be extra dramatic with the soap's milestone looming.

It has been 10 years since Lucy Beale (Hetti Bywater) was murdered and the major whodunit storyline kicked off.

The storyline had the nation guessing who the murderer was and viewers gasped when they learnt Lucy's killer was her younger brother Bobby Beale (then played by Eliot Carrington.)

It was revealed that Bobby accidentally killed his sister by hitting her over the head with a music box during an argument at their home.

Bobby's stepmother Jane Beale (Laurie Brett) then covered up the crime and moved Lucy's body to the woods.

This will be the first anniversary where Lucy's mother Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) will be present.

But fans are hoping Jane will make a major comeback and return to the square.

Taking to X - formally known as Twitter - one fan said: "I really hope Jane comes back!!!"

EastEnders fans furious at the lack of Cindy Beale for her big return to Walford

Another wrote: "The return of Jane Clarke looms x."

A third penned: "God I want Jane Beale to come back for Lucy’s 10th anniversary and just deck Cindy Jane is a much better character than Cindy."

A fourth added: "Manifesting jane will be back for lucys ten yr anniversary week and now with cindy back would like to see them come face to face it needs to happen."

Jane fled the square in 2017 after a run-in with Max Branning (Jake Wood) who was seeking revenge, after being framed for Lucy's murder.

He hired Ian's step-son Steven Beale (Aaron Sidwell) to set Beale's Restaurant on fire with Jane inside but fortunately, she managed to escape and it was actually Steven who died in the blaze.

Max then threatened Jane that if she did not leave Walford immediately, he would kill Bobby.

So, she left without saying why to husband Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) and has not been in the show since 2017.

But with Max gone and Bobby still living in Walford - could she make a comeback?
