Christine McGuinness has revealed plans for her first solo holiday since her split from ex Paddy.

The stunning mum of three, who co-parents twins Penelope and Leo, ten, and six-year-old Felicity with former Top Gear presenter Paddy, is planning to jet off alone after years of being forced to work around her ex's work commitments.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun, Christine - who is currently starring in BBC2's The Pilgrimage - shared her exciting plans for a late Spring getaway.

"I always book things last minute, because I'm always trying to work around Patrick's diary and my diary," she explained. "But I booked a solo trip for May and now I'm telling you this, I'm going to do it, but I'm pretty certain by the time it comes, I'll end up asking someone to come with me!"

That said, the holiday, which she reveals is somewhere in Europe, is designed for solo travellers, so Christine adds it might be unusual for her to take a plus one.

She said: "It's a retreat, and I was invited to go on my own. I think everyone there is pretty much on their own. And I just thought, there's nothing in the diary. Patrick's here, and it's only for a couple of days.

"I've booked it in and the plan is to go on my own and have a little solo trip.

"It's just a little mummy break on my own because, when you go away with your friends, it's fun, and it's great, and you're making memories, but you don't really chill.

"It'll be a different experience. The plan is to do it, so we'll see."

On top of that, Christine - who is currently grieving the loss of her nan - is also hoping to take a special person in her life on a trip too.

"I'd love to take my mum away this year too," she added. "I'll have to see where I can fit in."

In an exclusive chat with The Sun’s TV mag last month, she said: “I don’t see myself getting married again. I just don’t. I’ve never had time to myself.

“I was with Patrick since I was 19 and now I’m single for the first time in a long time.

"People are kind of, ‘Oh, you must be out there having fun and going on dates and having a great time’, but I’m thinking, ‘No, I’ve got time for myself for the first time’.

“I don’t need to tell anyone where I’m going or what I’m doing. That is so freeing and something that I’m not sure I want to give away again.”

And while she and Paddy are no longer a couple, they have made the unusual decision to remain under the same roof while their children are still young.

Christine explained: "We’re still in the family home, we’re still raising the children together, doing all the important things together like school plays, sports days, Christmas, birthdays.

“We’ve got a good understanding of parenting and how important it is for both of us to be in the children’s lives, so we support each other. We both equally want to be there to enjoy those times.

“Our children won’t be children forever. They’re only young for a short time and we respect each other enough to say, ‘We both want to be here, let’s do it together and be happy’."

Pilgrimage: The Road Through North Wales airs Friday at 9pm on BBC2. Catch up on BBC iPlayer.
