Coronation Street legend quits the cobbles after 47 years

The iconic character was born on the cobbles in 1977

CORONATION Street’s Tracy Barlow has decided to quit Weatherfield - after uncovering a shocking betrayal.

The killer florist - who is played by actress Kate Ford in the ITV soap - discovered that lover Tommy Orpington had wanted her to move to Spain with him but her estranged husband Steve McDonald burned his letter.

After accusing Amy of meddling to get her and Steve back together, Tracy realised Steve had been the one to lock up and intercept the letter.

And it didn’t take her long to confront him - and dump him for good.

Waiting for him in the house, Tracy lured him back before demanding the truth about the letter.

Steve tried to lie his way through it but Tracy broke him without breaking a sweat.

“Where is it Steve?” she said.

“The letter Tommy sent me. The note that Tommy sent me, I know that you saw it so where is it Steve and what did it say? 

“Where is it?”

He told her: “I burned the letter that Tommy sent you. I’m sorry.”

But as he insisted it was over between her and Tommy, she hit back: “It’s not over between me and Tommy though, is it? 

“The letter said as much and that’s why you burned it. Shame on you.”

She added: “I don’t care what you have to say, because I’m leaving tomorrow with Tommy for Spain.”

Later outside Tracy loaded her bags into a cab and told Carla and Tim how she was leaving Steve.
