Ant and Dec leave fans howling with ‘surprise career move as they quit TV’ on April Fool’s Day
We're smelling something fishy and it's not their cooking.
ANT and Dec have surprised fans by 'quitting TV and launching their own restaurant' - just in time for April Fool's Day.
The Geordie duo made their announcement on Instagram, sharing a suspicious looking news article stating they were branching out into a new venture.

Looking serious in a black and white photo as they pose in matching shirts that declare the brand 'Taste Mates', the Saturday Night Takeaway pair wrote: "We’ve been stewing on this for a while but wanted you to hear it from us first…"
The 'news story' - written by a mysterious Gustus Socios - reads: "Ant and Dec have announced today they will be taking a hiatus from their television commitments to kickstart their culinary careers.
"The Geordie duo have been making waves in the food world since launching their smash hit digital series, Taste Mates, last year and have decided to explore this new opportunity full time."
"As well as signing a deal for a tell-all recipe book, the pair have announced plans to open a pop-up restaurant offering diners the chance to experience their groundbreaking cooking firsthand."

In separate, very official and professional looking statements, the pair also explained why they've decided to 'move on from TV'.
"I believe that food has the power to bring people together and create cherished memories, that’s how my family feel when I make them beans on toast. I am excited to embark on this culinary journey with my sous chef, Dec."
"The kitchen is my favourite place," said Dec. "I adore spending time cooking, I get to snack on the ingredients (mostly cheese) as I go.
"Opening a restaurant has been a dream of ours for quite some time, and I am incredibly excited to finally see it come to fruition. I know that Ant will be an excellent pot washer."

Unfortunately for them, most fans didn't buy it for a second.
"If you could put me on the table next to gordon ramsey so I could hear what he has to say about this new culinary experience even better! [sic]" wrote one.
"I know it’s April fools but I’d actually go to their restaurant," added another.
A third noted: "Can we send abnormally large food items via the post to you like we used to on smtv?"
While a fourth offered them another business opportunity by saying: "Or you could open a gym and call it ‘ant and pecs’.. happy AF"
But everyone appreciated the joke, with most writing: "Happy April fools lads I hope you've had a good Easter."
