Coronation Street exit for fan favourite as she leaves dying dad behind for a new life in America

CORONATION Street has aired a shock exit for Summer Spellman tonight.
The student - who is played by actress Harriet Bibby in the ITV soap - has been offered the opportunity of a lifetime to study in America.
However she has struggled making a decision what with her stepdad Paul Foreman’s impending death from motor neurone disease.
Viewers know Paul is planning to take his own life before his suffering gets too bad.
Lately Billy confided in Summer about Paul’s plan and how it has left him terrified.
It saw her change her mind about studying in America, and instead want to stay home to spend Paul’s final months with him.
However after having a full and frank conversation, Paul made Summer realise that she had to go and live her life.
He promised her that he wouldn’t end things before she got back and so she agreed to go.
And tonight was the night for her to leave.
“Flipping ‘eck,” Summer said as all her dads appeared to wave her off.
But as they hugged and said a temporary farewell, Paul brought the mood down by promising not to die without her.
Summer burst into tears so Paul made a promise that he wouldn’t.
He said: “And in all seriousness, I’ve said to these guys if things get bad…”
“Then you tell me and I’m coming straight back,” she replied.
