ITV’s Passenger dubbed ‘Coronation Street on acid’ as fans binge watch new thriller and demand second season

PASSENGER fans have demanded that ITV bosses immediately commission a second season of the new thriller set in the twisted fictional town of Chadder Vale.

Fans have been thrown into a frenzy since the six-part series premiered on March 24.

The brand-new ITV series, created by Broadchuch’s Andrew Buchan, has left fans wanting more after they praised the show for incorporating "Stranger Things vibes" plots with Happy Valley themes.

Passenger follows the mysterious disappearance of teenager Katie Wells, played by Rowan Robinson, and the investigation by D.I. Riya Ajunwa in the fictional northern village of Chadder Vale.

Initially, episode one of the show had fans baffled and questioning, “What is actually going on?” after they witnessed Katie go missing while in the forest during a strange encounter. 

Later on, after D.I. Riya Ajunwa is assigned to the missing person's case, the teen returns home unscathed, prompting the detective to investigate further as she is convinced something strange is happening in the woods.

As the series unravels viewers can't seem to get enough, even though the plot initially bemused them. 

Edgy flashbacks and suspicious men being released from prison have kept viewers hooked to their screens while discussing the show on social media. 

Taking to X(Twitter), one user said: "Enjoyed episode 1 of #Passenger bit strange kinda Happy Valley meets Stranger things with a hint of Fargo?"

Another added: "This is like Corrie on acid in the snow."
