A PLACE in the Sun star Scarlette Douglas has been left in tears as she shared another update on her fertility journey.

The Channel 4 presenter has been keeping fans up to date on her egg-freezing journey over the past few days which has seen her battle a variety of health issues.

Scarlette has been undergoing the process in order to better her chances of parenthood as she gets older.

The 37-year-old revealed she underwent the latest procedure known as egg-retrieval during her "uncomfortable" process.

Sharing a video from her hospital bed, Scarlette candidly opened up about the process in fine detail.

Before doing so, she joked she was on an "Easter egg hunt" as she shared "day 20" of her egg freezing diary.

The property expert said to her followers: "Well, I’m going to be honest, I was very uncomfortable going in today ladies.

"The trigger injection really did exacerbate the bloating and lower abdominal pain and the closer it was getting to my egg retrieval the more uncomfortable I was becoming.

"I had to sit on my left side for most of the day!"

Scarlette confessed to being supported by "the nurse, anaesthetist and doctor" who managed to explain everything "thoroughly" despite getting tearful.

She went on to add: "Everything was explained thoroughly and I felt in good hands.

"I did shed a little tear just before the sedation went in, mainly because I was scared and nervous, but also because you have to do it all on your own; no one can come in with you."

Amid the turmoil of her procedure, she did reveal to there being positive outcomes.

She told her 75,000 followers that she had the "best sleep I've ever had" before having some more pain relief.

It all seemed to go well for the presenter as she shared how 19 of the 24 eggs that doctors managed to collect were viable for freezing!"

Scarlette said: "I was over the moon! That was more than I could have ever imagined and so I was and am so so happy that, to this point, it has all been worth it.

"Off for my second nap since so catch you all tomorrow!"

It has been a trying time for Scarlette after she was left emotional after being saddened by not being "a mummy" yet.

The star previously said: "How do I feel? I feel emotional today for many reasons, probably.

"Hormones being one, but also, I didn’t think I would be 37 and not have a partner, not be engaged, not be married, not have kids.”

Scarlette continued: “So I think all of that is getting on top of me a little bit today. Don’t get me wrong, I’m unbelievably grateful for everything that I have in my life... for my family, for my friends, my house, my security, my work, all of that I’m so grateful.

"I also definitely thought I would have been a mummy by now, and I’m looking at my tummy like yeah, it’s a lot."
