A FAN favourite Doctor Who icon has confirmed that he has returned to the programme after vowing he would snub it forever.
The popular series will be airing a brand new series later this year with episodes for 2025 already in the works.
Now it has been confirmed that one of the men behind those episodes will be Steven Moffat, the programme's ex-showrunner, adored by legions of devoted fans.
The 62-year-old, who gained an OBE for his work on the iconic show, will be back on the show having quit working on it more than seven years ago.
Steven has penned one of the show's 2025 episode after coming back on board under show champion and legendary screenwriter Russell T. Davies' leadership.
Russell first hired Steven onto the programme in 2005 and he continued to work there until the end of the tenth revival series.

"There was begging, there was pleading but finally Russell agreed to let me have another go – so long as I got out of his garden.
"Working with old friends and a brand new Doctor I couldn’t be happier."
It comes just days after it was confirmed that one of the show's actors and a soap favourite would also be heading back to Doctor Who.
