Hair-tossing frontman David St Hubbins, played by Michael McKean, is in the midst of reforming the fictitious British heavy metal group.

That’s if he can get out of the mariachi band he has joined . . .

Spinal Tap II will follow the band reuniting after a 15-year break for one final gig.

David’s bandmate Nigel Tufnel, played by Christopher Guest, is also ready to rock again and was spotted filming in a black leather jacket.

In the scenes, which are being shot in New Orleans, Spinal’s promo man, Artie Fufkin – played by Paul Shaffer – is seen going back to his roots as a second-hand car salesman.

He is visited by interviewer Marty DiBergi, played by director Rob Reiner, who is looking to chart the journey of the faux rockers.

The sequel has a star-studded roster of cameos too, with Sir Elton John and Sir Paul McCartney appearing.

One man is missing from the action though, with bassist Derek Smalls, actor Harry Shearer not seen on set – leaving a question mark over where he has ended up.
