THE BBC have axed one of their most beloved radio shows after being unable to afford to keep it running.
BBC Radio 4 show Tweet of the Day is to be officially removed from daily schedule.
The show will only air on Sundays going forward as part of a wide shake-up to the programming schedule.
Each day, the station usually kicks off with 90 seconds of bird song before a story is told about the British bird species who have created the noise.
Listeners have loved waking up to the sounds of birds each morning and having a relaxing start to the day.
That will now be snatched away from them with Radio 4 controller Mohit Bakaya confirming that it would just be airing on Sundays.

It originally aired in between the legendary programmes Farming Today and Today.
Confirming the schedule shake-up, Mohit said: "Monday to Friday it's gone and we're giving that time back to Farming Today because we think it's important right now to give Farming Today as much time as possible".
had previously reported how the station had secretly been airing repeats of previous programmes "for a while" after being unable to afford to produce the programme daily.
Over the course of its run, Tweet of the Day had seen a slew of celebrity guests get involved to present.

It is the latest change to hit BBC radio after it was revealed a top TV presenter had landed a role on Radio 2.
Ex-Take Me Out and Top Gear host, Paddy McGuinness, 50, has successfully covered Rylan Clark’s Saturday afternoon show — leading to talks with station boss Helen Thomas about a long-term role.
The Sun revealed that the star was expected to join the roster of presenters but further details are yet to be finalised.
Comedian Paddy held the fort on Vernon’s mid-morning show in November while the host ran an ultra marathon for Children In Need.
Announcing that Paddy would step in for Rylan, who was away filming, Helen Thomas said: “Paddy did a great job presenting Ten To The Top for Vernon.
“He was warmly welcomed by listeners so it’s wonderful to welcome him back to Radio 2 to sit in for Rylan for four weeks.”
