COMIC Relief is back for 2024 with millions expected to tune in to the annual charity extravaganza.
Ahead of Red Nose Day, we take a look at how those at home can do their bit to raise money during the fundraising event.
What is Comic Relief?
According to the official website: ''Comic Relief is a major charity based in the UK, with a vision of a just world, free from poverty.
''Our goal is to drive positive change through the power of entertainment.''
The charity was first started by Richard Curtis and Jane Tewson in July 1985, and was co-founded by Peter Bennett-Jones and Sir Lenny Henry.
While Comic Relief is the name of the charity, Red Nose Day is the actual event where people are encouraged to take part in fundraising efforts.

The very first Red Nose Day was in 1988 and raised an impressive £15million.
How to donate to Comic Relief?
Those hoping to donate to Comic Relief can do so via the charity's .
All you have to do is click the 'donate' button - which can be found at the top of the home page.
The money raised through Comic Relief goes towards good causes, not only in the UK but also across the world.

The money will help to tackle issues such as homelessness, mental health, and food poverty.

Once you've hit the button, you will be re-directed to the Comic Relief donation page.
There you can make a single donation, a monthly donation, or opt to pay in fundraising.
The minimum donation amount that can be entered online is £1.
Alternatively, funds can also be donated via text.
For example texting YES to 70205 means you will donate £5 or texting YES to 70210 means you will donate £10.

Donations can also be made by purchasing a Comic Relief red nose, online via Amazon.
How much money was raised in 2023?
Thanks to fundraising efforts in 2023, Comic Relief raised an incredible £35,310,407.
The annual event, which was aired live on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, took place in Salford, Manchester, and was presented by AJ Odudu, David Tennant, Joel Dommett, Paddy McGuinness, and Zoe Ball.
Throughout the evening, viewers were treated to an evening of entertainment, including hilarious comedy sketches, live music, extraordinary prizes and moving films showing the life-changing power of donations.
Following Comic Relief 2023, host AJ Odudu said: “Wow, what an amazing night! It’s been an absolute joy to be part of such a special evening dedicated to raising money for so many important causes.

In 2022, an astounding £42,790,147 was raised, resulting in Comic Relief passing the momentous milestone of £1.5 billion raised in its 37 years.
