They claimed the "phone" was perched on his "knee" as he talked to Big Brother, with one fan exclaiming on X: "Nikita has a phone in his pocket he just pulled it out."

Another quizzed: "Did Nikita have his phone in the diary room…mmm," as a third put: "Umm is nobody gonna talk about the phone on Nikita’s lap…??"

One then added: "Surely that’s not Nikita looking at a phone on his knee?"

Yet many more Celebrity Big Brother viewers were quick to clarify the situation, flagging the device is in fact a reader for his blood sugar monitor, used to help control his .

While he has been spotted with his continuous glucose monitor (CGM) on his arm in the house, he has not referenced his condition directly to his housemates.

Nikita has previously opened up about living with diabetes to the BBC's Morning Live programme.

He was diagnosed at the age of 13 and said: "I mean, first of all, the message I would really love to send to all the kids and general people is that this is our superpower.

"We get to learn how to be responsible from a young age.

"How to deal with problems with the condition."

He continued: "And second of all, it's really important that we find someone with the same condition that we can look up to.

Celebrity Big Brother line-up

Who are the 13 stars appearing in the Celebrity Big Brother house? The Sun's Jamie Downham takes a look...

Sharon Osbourne - TV legend - who is a "house guest" on a megabucks deal - said she was doing the show for "a good time not a long time"

Louis Walsh - Irish boyband manager who has never knowingly backed down from a fight and is not above pulling rank over the double bed

Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu - As we know from Love Island, the Ek-ster is capable of throwing about some dramatics to claw her way to the final

Levi Roots - Reggae Reggae Sauce sauce packs a bit of a kick, but its inventor seems quite mild-mannered. Will that change under pressure?

Fern Britton - The former This Morning star called out Phillip Schofield - don't think she won't do the same to anyone who tangles with her

Colson Smith - You'll probably know him best as Corrie's Craig Tinker - but prepare to find out he's not much like his character

David Potts - Ibiza Weekender's breakout star has left that show behind - as well as his trousers by the look of things

Gary Goldsmith - Kate Middleton's uncle is a big signing for ITV, but has proved a divisive booking among viewers

Marisha Wallace - It's not CBB without the role of 'American who doesn't know what they've let themselves in for' and she's doing brilliantly

Nikita Kuzmin - The Strictly pro is coming onto the show fresh off the show's tour. Poor lad probably just wants a rest

Zeze Mills - the social media star has a "no holds barred interview style" - and she hasn't backed away from calling people (well, Louis) out

Bradley Riches - The actor played kindly James McEwan in Netflix hit Heartstopper and he seems just as sweet in the house

Lauren Simon - She's a Real Housewives of Cheshire star and you really don't get on that show by being shy and retiring

"Like when I found out, I was 13 and I just came back to Ukraine and at that time, I'd been dancing already for nine years.

"I lived in three countries and everything because of that.
So when I found out, I thought, 'My career's over,' and the next morning I woke up and I saw all those kids smiling and they were happy and they were diabetics just like me.

"I went out of my room and - this is one of my best memories in my life - there was this wall of fame.

"It was all of the famous, successful diabetics - Olympians, Paralympians, presidents, actors - everything.

"And actually, I think I made quite a few of them up because I thought there was quite a few more people than there actually were.

"I checked a couple of days ago and most of them were not even there!"

What is diabetes?

DIABETES is a condition that causes a person's blood sugar level to become too high.

There are two main types of diabetes:

  • Type 1 diabetes – a lifelong condition where the body's immune system attacks and destroys the cells that produce insulin
  • Type 2 diabetes – where the body does not produce enough insulin, or the body's cells do not react to insulin properly

The amount of sugar in the blood is controlled by a hormone called insulin, which is produced by the pancreas (a gland behind the stomach).

When food is digested and enters your bloodstream, insulin moves glucose out of the blood and into cells, where it's broken down to produce energy.

However, if you have diabetes, your body is unable to break down glucose into energy. This is because there's either not enough insulin to move the glucose, or the insulin produced does not work properly.

There are no lifestyle changes you can make to lower your risk of Type 1 diabetes.

If you're diagnosed with diabetes, you'll need to eat healthily, take regular exercise and have regular checks including blood tests.

People diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes also require regular insulin injections for the rest of their life.
