FERN Britton fans claim they have worked out the 'real reason' she broke down in tears in the diary room after Sharon Osbourne nominated her.

Celebrity Big Brother fans watched last night as Sharon was given the power to remove one housemate from the chopping block.

Zeze Millz, Lauren Simon and Louis Walsh all had the most nominations, but Sharon chose to save Zeze and replace her on the chopping block with Fern.

Giving her reasons for picking Fern, Sharon claimed there was an age divide in the house and that

"I just think that there us ones that are a bit older stick out like a sore thumb," she said. "I'm not ageist at all, and Fern is so much younger than me. I am just saying that, for the house, people have gone off in their groups and they are happy."

Fern later headed to the diary room where she became emotional and took a swipe at Sharon's reference to her age.

While she said that she "understood" Sharon's reasons, she made a barbed reference to being an "oldie".

Fern said between tears: "This is a game and it's been fun. I am loving people. It's an experience, a great experience, for an oldie, an old timer."

Fans are convinced this gave away a clue that Fern was upset about being labelled 'old' .

"Fern Britton might getting on a bit, but no dinosaur," wrote one.

"She's ageing like a fine wine!" agreed another.

But many thought Fern's tears were tactical in a bid to get herself saved from eviction tonight.

One wrote on X/ twitter: "Fern crying in the diary room will make people save her over Queen Lauren…. we need to rally."

A second added: "Fern crying 😭 VOTE TO SAVE IMMEDIATELY."

"Okay I’m a bit behind and Fern crying in the Diary Room? Bye Lauren," said a third.

Regardless of who gets voted out this evening, there will be two exits from the house.

Sharon Osbourne will also leave tonight as her stint as Celebrity Lodger was only intended for a week.

Sharon previously revealed she only signed on for a shorter stint as she couldn't leave her husband Ozzy in Los Angeles for long.

The results of the eviction vote will be revealed in tonight's episode at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
