Foodie fans will love seeing him take on a different culture's dishes

MASTERCHEF star Marcus Wareing has signed up for a new BBC travel series which will see him leave his Michelin-star restaurant in favour of the French countryside.

Now Beeb bosses have announced he will be heading up a show called Simply Provence, which will follow him as he learns to whip up classic French dishes with a British twist.

Marcus hopes to discover exactly what is so good about seasonal French produce while staying in the heart of St Remy.

During the series he will meet up with local farmers and chefs in an attempt to find out about their cooking traditions.

He is not afraid to pry either, and will be seen trying to butter up the French as he asks them to reveal the secrets to old family recipes.

Other scenes will see Marcus taking part in an ancient olive cracking competition, or heading to the harbour to pick out a fresh catch for the day.

He then hopes to test out what he's learned on willing French foodies.

The MasterChef participant shared: "I'm a self-proclaimed lover of French food and have dedicated my life’s work to perfecting the art of elite, French cuisine but, until now, have never stepped back to fully immerse myself in the culture, the people and the simple, yet delicious, food that is at the heart of this beautiful region.

"I can’t wait to take audiences on a deep-dive into Provence and create some simple dishes and flavour combinations that everyone will be able to try at home – it will really be a feast for the senses."
