COLSON Smith might be appearing in Celebrity Big Brother now but that doesn’t mean he’s leaving Coronation Street.

The actor - who plays policeman Craig Tinker in the ITV soap - has sparked concern from fans that he may be about to leave the long-running show.

He has played Craig for 13 years since joining as a child actor in 2011.

And now The Sun can exclusively reveal that he is sticking around having signed a new contract before entering the ITV reality show.

A source said: “Craig is a beloved character on the cobbles and there’s no question that Colson is an integral part of the show.

“He’ll be sticking around long after Celebrity Big Brother ends. He can’t imagine walking away from the show that made his name.”

Colson opened up about his future on Corrie before entering the reality show house - as well as his dreams of presenting.

"I love Corrie,” he told The Mirror.

"It's a national institution and the small part that I play in it, I'm so lucky to do it.

“But, I love being myself, you know. I never want to leave the show, but any opportunities I get as Colson, I'm going to take."

He added: "I kind of want to present. That's kind of my dream career, so if that opportunity came and I could stay as Craig, it'd be perfect.

“But it's just a case of seeing what happens. I'm very fortunate and super lucky. 

“I know whatever opportunities come, Corrie are always gonna support and help me."
