THIS Morning ended up in chaos today as screaming and crying children interrupted the live broadcast.

Martin Lewis, 51, made his debut hosting the daytime juggernaut alongside Josie Gibson, 39, after years of appearing as a finance expert.

But he was certainly put through his paces when the time came for some little ones to appear on the small screen.

It was during a phone call segment that the bawling sprogs were first heard, with viewers sharing their confusion on X - formerly Twitter.

Shortly afterwards, they made their way into the studio to model some costumes ahead of World Book Day.

One of the children couldn't conceal his tears, with his mum prying him forward to meet Martin, Josie and Sian Welby.

Some This Morning fans were left furious, though, fuming that it was "cruel" to force the kids on TV.

One wrote, "Never mind their ages - who would like to be dragged on to model a strange outfit in bright lights whilst three strangers shout at them?"

Another added, "Absolute madness. Segments like that should be prerecorded. It was all too much for them and understandably so. They are little more than babies"

Someone else agreed, "That segment was so messy Why use children as props???"

A fourth chimed in with, "These children really don't look happy, this is bordering on cruelty ..."

Elsewhere in the episode, fans became convinced they'd spotted tension between Martin and Gyles Brandreth.

Gyles was keen to put the journalist through his paces during a discussion about money.

Those watching at home were quick to pick up on Gyles change of demeanour around Martin as they discussed tax cuts.
