OSCAR-winning actress Olivia Colman has admitted to having “loads” of Botox.

However, the star, 50, is understood to have halted all injections after landing the role of the ageing Queen in The Crown.

After sticking her neck above the parapet, and coughing to the £300-a-pop treatment - which effectively paralyses facial muscles to prevent wrinkles - she has been praised for her honesty.

Speaking to Vernon Kay on Radio 2, the pair established they were both born in 1974, prompting Olivia to quip: “I look like your mum!”

She then said to the Bolton-born DJ, 49, “You look really young, that’s really annoying! “How much Botox have you had?”

When he replied “none”, and asked if she’d ever had it, the Broadchurch star replied: “I’ve had loads! [It hurts] … it’s needles in your face.”

X, the site formerly known as Twitter, was flooded with praise for Olivia who played the middle aged Queen from 2019 to 2020.

“Refreshing admission from a celeb for once,” said one user, whilst another added: “She looks fabulous… not all stars put their line-free skin down to good genes, thank God.”

The acclaimed actress has received various accolades over the years including four BAFTAs, three Golden Globes, two Emmy’s and an Oscar for her 2018 role as Queen Anne in The Favourite.

A year later she played the late Queen in series three and four of Netflix’s smash drama, The Crown.

For both roles, she opted against having Botox so as to be more in character.

A source added: “Obviously Botox wasn’t around in the 18th century, and Elizabeth II didn’t exactly look like a Love Islander.

“Naturally, Olivia wants to look and feel her best - but work comes first, and she happily went for months and months without any work done.”
