The Gentlemen
DRAMA Available from Thursday
Remember Guy Ritchie’s entertaining 2019 crime caper The Gentlemen? It was such a hit that the director has now created this series based in the same world, with the same ‘posh Brits getting mixed up in violent crime’ flavour, but featuring a completely new set of characters. When he unexpectedly inherits his late father’s huge country home and vast estate, Eddie (Theo James) discovers that his dad had been keeping one or two secrets – the biggest being the fact that he was letting a drug cartel - headed by East End gangster Bobby Glass (Ray Winstone) and fronted by his daughter Suzie (Kaya Scodelario) - grow its cannabis there. Initially keen to move the gangsters on, Eddie soon gets a taste for the lifestyle - but has he bitten off more than he can chew? Also boasting the likes of Giancarlo Esposito, Joely Richardson and Vinnie Jones among its cast, this is Ritchie at his most outrageously funny, swaggering, violent and entertaining.

With more than 1300 adult films under his belt, Rocco Siffredi is a big name in the world of hardcore movies. Now his colourful life story provides the inspiration for this drama from Italy. Starring Alessandro Borghi, the seven-part series traces Rocco’s life through childhood all the way to stardom, examining the highs and lows of such an unconventional existence. Obviously, it hardly needs to be said that this is a drama very much not for children, but with a female, feminist screenwriter - Francesca Manieri - as its creator and driving force, expect something more nuanced than the subject matter might first suggest.

Meet Ricky Stanicky

Zac Efron and John Cena share top billing in this daft but fun-looking movie. For the last 25 years, Dean (Zac) and his two best friends have blamed all their many misbehaviours and scrapes on a pal called Ricky Stanicky. The thing is, Ricky doesn’t actually exist - the friends invented him as the perfect excuse for getting to head off on all manner of wild adventures together. But when a sudden personal crisis causes the friends’ wives to get suspicious about this elusive, trouble-making Ricky and demand to meet him, Dean and co decide to hire a washed-up actor called Rod (John) to bring Ricky to life and get them off the hook. But when Rod starts to enjoy his role a little too much, the plan begins to backfire. Packed with near-the-knuckle gross-out humour, this is definitely one for any adult who refuses to grow up.
