CALL The Midwife fans have been left "heartbroken' after another character left the show for good.
The hit BBC period medical drama continued last night with its seventh episode.
Viewers watched as Trixie Aylward's anticipated happy ending didn't go to plan.
Her husband Matthew, played by Olly Rix, was left embarrassed as his financial situation was laid bare for her.
After Matthew's car was repossessed outside Nonnatus House, Trixie - played by Helen George - tried to accept their situation and attempted to live on a budget.
But Matthew made it clear he wouldn't live a modest lifestyle and announced the family would move to New York.

He explained he was going to pursue a business opportunity there with a friend.
However, Trixie refused to leave Poplar and Nonnatus House in tense scenes.
She heartbreakingly was forced to say goodbye to her husband and stepson Jonty as they set off for the US.
As Olly bows out of his character after three years, Call The Midwife fans at home have been left devastated.
