The latest Sunday show saw Sarah Campbell on the red sofa, and she was joined by Ben Boulos.

Ben, 39, has been missing from the show for weeks while he took an extended break to enjoy a holiday travelling around parts of the US.

The journalist looked thrilled to be back at work as he beamed for the selfie alongside Sarah.

She captioned the shot: "It’s me and @BenMBoulos on the sofa. Lots to talk about including @Frank_Rothwell just back from rowing across the Atlantic (aged 73) and Peanut - the medical detection dog trained to smell Parkinson’s disease. All still to come…@BBCBreakfast."

The pair were flooded with comments from happy BBC Breakfast viewers, with one writing: "Good to see you back" with a thumbs up emoji.

Another added: "Welcome back Ben! I've missed seeing you at Breakfast."

A third tweeted: "Great to see you both on the sofa this morning."

Ben had teased his return on his Instagram, sharing snaps from his trip to Washington D.C.

The star couldn't resist visiting the BBC studios there and posing on the set.

He captioned the pictures: "It’s been a few weeks but I’m delighted to be back in the studio tomorrow… wait, this doesn’t look like the right one… It’s about 3,500 miles too far west for a start.
