But in the eyes of the Kings of Saturday night telly, that’s just the perfect excuse for them to pull out all the stops to make sure it’s one to remember.

This is even more special as it’s the final series before Ant welcomes his first child with wife, Anne-Marie.

“It will be bittersweet, with lots of tears, but it feels like the right thing,” Ant told The .

“Twenty series just feels like a natural point to pause,” Dec added. “We don’t want to say we’ll never do it again. But we’ve both got families now.

“Our lives have changed dramatically. We want to step off the hamster wheel, catch our breath and decide what’s next.”

As part of the finale, the production team are going all out, bringing back fan-favourite segments, all-star celebrity guests and massive prizes.

Cheryl, TV presenter Holly Willoughby and singer Craig David are among those confirmed to appear.

The series will also feature a new piece called Get Out Of Me Ear: The Revenge, where A-listers who have been hidden camera victims of the pair over the years turn the tables on them.

Simon Cowell is also in the Geordie duo's crosshairs for the first prank of the season, with Little Ant and Dec making their return one last time.

The seven-week run will end with a two-hour extended finale in April, which will include an outdoor audience, a second stage, and stunts that are yet to be confirmed.

“We’ve grown up on this show,” Ant said of the history of the long-running series. “It’s been an eventful 20 years. So much has happened.

“It feels like we’ve been doing it since we were in short trousers.”

Saturday Night Takeaway starts 7pm on ITV and streams on ITVX.
