The hit show, which is based on best-selling author James Herriot's stories first started in 2020.

It stars Rachel Shenton, Callum Woodhouse, Nicholas Ralph and Samuel West.

Set in the Yorkshire Dales in the 1930s, it follows a group of veterinarians as they care for local animals while juggling their personal lives.

All Creatures Great and Small will return to Northern England for series five and six.

Each run will have six episodes, including an hour-long Christmas special.

Channel 5 have confirmed Nicholas Ralph, Samuel West, Anna Madeley and Rachel Shenton will all reprise their roles.

Other fan-favourites making a comeback include James Anthony-Rose, Patricia Hodge and Callum Woodhouse.

Speaking about the double commission, C5's commissioning editor for drama Paul Testar said: “We’re so pleased that All Creatures Great and Small will be returning to Channel 5 for two more series.

"The show has captured the hearts of our audiences and we are committed to bringing even more of James Herriot’s unforgettable stories to our viewers.
