Spaceman, Available from Friday
While Adam Sandler is best known for comedy movies such as The Wedding Singer and Happy Gilmore, his performances in dramas Uncut Gems and Hustle prove he’s more than just a funny guy.
He shows his more serious side once again in this quirky sci-fi film, playing astronaut Jakub, who’s six months into a solitary research mission to the edge of the solar system when he realises that his wife Lenka (Carey Mulligan) might not be as desperate for him to come home as he’d hoped.
Stuck thousands of miles away in space, Jakub finds unlikely emotional assistance from a spider-like creature, Hanus (voiced by Paul Dano), who’s been hiding in the spaceship. A strange but affecting film that also stars Kunal Nayyar, Lena Olin and Isabella Rossellini.

Code 8 Part II, Available from Wednesday
The original Code 8 movie from 2019 introduced us to Connor (Robbie Amell) and Garrett (Stephen Amell), two so-called PWPs: a small percentage of the population born with special powers.
With PWPs shunned by society, the pair became involved in organised crime, a decision that resulted in Connor being locked up. This sci-fi sequel finds Connor finally out of prison, ready to put the past - and Garrett - behind him.
But his hopes of staying out of trouble are dashed when he’s forced to help a teenage girl trying to escape corrupt police officials - and before long he’s reluctantly asking Garrett and his crew for help. But can Garrett be trusted? Solid sci-fi fun.

When American journalist Danny Casolaro was found dead in a hotel bath back in 1991, the police concluded that it was a sad case of suicide.

Over four parts, this gripping true-crime documentary series follows researcher Christian Hansen as he attempts to uncover the truth behind both Casolaro’s suspicious death and The Octopus.

Dead Hot, Available from Friday
If you’ve ever wondered what Harlan Coben’s thrillers might look like if they were younger, edgier and a little more camp, then wonder no more.
This six-part darkly comic thriller is about as close as we’re likely to get to that, seeing as it’s created and written by Harlan’s daughter Charlotte.
Set in Liverpool, the series introduces us to twentysomething best friends Elliot (Bilal Hasna) and Jess (Vivian Oparah), who’ve been brought together by the shocking disappearance of Peter - Elliot’s boyfriend and Jess’ brother - five years earlier.
But just when it looks like they might be able to put the past and their shared grief behind them - not least because Elliot’s met a new guy, Will - Jess is contacted by someone claiming to be Peter. Could it really be him? And what secrets does Will hold?
Fast-paced and full-blooded, it’s edge-of-your seat stuff and features great performances from the two leads, plus an uproarious cameo from Penelope Wilton as Elliot’s grandmother.
Dead In The Water, Available from Wednesday
In 1978, Chris Farmer and Peta Frampton - a young British couple on a backpacking adventure - went missing in central America.
Horrifyingly, their bodies were eventually discovered 200 metres off the coast of Guatemala tied to engine parts, before being quietly buried.
That awful scenario is just the beginning of this three-part true-crime documentary, which tells how Chris and Peta's two families were unaware of the location of their graves for many years.
Failed by law enforcement, four decades later they then started their own investigation. It's a story of grief and a quest for justice against huge odds.

The Completely Made-Up Adventures Of Dick Turpin, Available from Friday
With his love of capes, big hats and wild hair, Noel Fielding was surely born to play legendary 18th-century highwayman Dick Turpin. And he’s clearly having the time of his life in the lead role of this entertaining, comic take on Turpin’s swashbuckling adventures.
Like a merry mash up of Noel’s old show The Mighty Boosh, Blackadder and Ghosts, it’s a silly, lightly surreal historical romp, which is blessed with a brilliant cast - exuberant Noel’s joined by Hugh Bonneville as corrupt lawman Jonathan Wilde, while Ellie White, Marc Wootton and Duayne Boachie are great as Dick’s gang.
There’s an epic line up of stars who crop up in cameo roles, including David Threlfall, Tamsin Grieg and Joe Wilkinson, and while there are better ways of putting this: what a Dick Noel is.
