LOVE Island fans were not impressed with two villa ladies tonight - branding them 'mean girls'.

And they went on to accuse one of the duo of 'gaslighting' and 'playing the victim' after a row erupted in the villa.

It came after Georgia Harrison and Arabella Chi both decided to tell Tom Clare that the public are rooting for Molly Smith and Callum Jones to get back together.

They gathered the information from the video calls the girls enjoyed yesterday - especially after Molly came back to tell the other girls that her best mate had told her about the campaign for the exes to reunite.

When Molly learnt that Georgia and Arabella had been gossiping to Tom, she made it clear she wasn't happy with the pair - especially as Arabella is her best pal.

But both then played innocent, claiming that Tom would have found out anyway.

"Tom is not annoyed," insisted Arabella during a tense chat with Molly in the kitchen.

"I know him better than you and I think he is," Molly hit back.

"It was going to come out anyway," Arabella said, defending her actions.

"You're not getting my point of view so let's not talk about it," responded an exasperated Molly.

When Molly then said she would have preferred Georgia or Arabella to have told her to have a chat with Tom about it, Arabella became defensive and angry.

"It's just f***ing unfair man," she ranted. "I'm not falling out with my best friend in here!"

Needless to say, fans were not impressed.

"Arabella and Georgia H are f***ing gossips," one viewer ranted on X, formerly twitter. "They knew what they were doing telling Tom. Proper mean girl s**t."

And it was Arabella who then came in for the biggest smackdown on social media, with fans claiming she then 'gaslighted' Molly and 'played the victim'.

"Arabella is the worst type of friend," another said.

"Not Arabella telling Tom something that was none of her business and then getting defensive and gaslighting Molly when she's pulled over it," a third posted.

What is gaslighting?

Heard the term but not sure what it really means? Read on...

Gaslighting is essentially a control tactic used to manipulate others by using deceptive behaviour to make you doubt your own sanity - often making the victim feel like they are going crazy, questioning their actions, while explaining away their own.

Worryingly, we are seeing more of this on our TV screens, with reality shows like Love Island criticised for allowing such manipulative behaviour among young couples.

Victims usually start to question their memory and perception as a result of psychological manipulation, with gaslighters tending to twist words or convince victims they said or did something they didn't.

They will try to make you look unreasonable or irrational, distorting reality to make you feel guilty - trivialising your feelings and excusing their own bad behaviour.

"Why is Arabella MAD?" asked a fourth.

"How has Arabella made herself a victim in a situation that doesn't involve her?" questioned a fifth.

And a sixth summed it up, adding: "Arabella caused drama and then ran away, huh?"
